Long-term Care Quality
Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it earned a better long-term care grade this year. We gave it a C in that category, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we were able to find for this facility. Our long-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of nursing care. This includes a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 94.5245 percent of its residents. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an F. The nursing score weighs several components, most of which are based on nursing hours. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
This facility received really poor government inspection reports in recent years, causing them to receive an F for inspections. An F in this category is generally a sign that there were some red flags on the facility's inspection reports. For facilities with poor inspection scores, you should really focus on any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This particular nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, we also want to point out that this facility was assessed significant government fines totaling over $100,000. This usually means that a facility's poor performance has been an issue for multiple years.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this nursing home didn't perform well in this area either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. Our short-term care grade is typically used to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to provide highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. With a grade of this caliber for this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this place was below average in multiple staffing areas we focus on. It provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3 percent of its residents returning home.
