Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its excellent health inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. In computing these short-term care ratings, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. We looked at the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with residents, in determining our score in this area. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, although this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this statistic.

The next category we looked at is long-term care. This facility was awarded a C in this area. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated 81.949455 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is significantly less than what we were hoping for.
