Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong facility overall, it also received A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Our inspection ratings are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. In computing our nursing ratings, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of turning a patient more often.

Long-term Care Quality
Building on its remarkable profile, this nursing home also was given an excellent long-term care grade, with a grade of A-. Facilities that do well in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was short-term care. This facility received an above average nursing grade in our assessment, with a grade of B. Although this isn't as dominant as many of its other category grades, this is still one of our stronger grades in this area. Our short-term care scores are critical for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
