One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. This nursing home also earned excellent inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our best grades in that category, with an impressive grade of A. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

The last area we analyzed was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of A-. This finished off a very strong profile. Not many nursing homes received an A- or higher in each of our categories. Our short-term care ratings are probably more meaningful for folks in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists.
