On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also received excellent government inspections recently. We awarded it one of our best grades in that area, with an A. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning patients at least once a day.

The next category we assessed is long-term care. Adding to its dominant profile, this nursing home also excelled in that area. In fact, it received a grade of of A- in the category. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. This is a great way to avoid negative health outcomes for the senior population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

In the final category we analyzed, this facility received a very favorable grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility finished off a straight A report card. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
