Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of faring well in its overall grade, this nursing home earned a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of components, however, the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to our next category, this facility also received a score of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this area. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation To have high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we analyzed is long-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a favorable grade of B. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 97.10145 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia can be a deadly condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
