Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we did not have many favorable things to say about this facility's overall grade, it did receive a respectable nursing rating of B-. Our nursing grade analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared to most facilities. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this area. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving patients more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's second highest area ended up being short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a B-. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to create a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we looked at is long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a solid grade of C. With our long-term care assessment, we focus on the quantity of care offered by a facility, as well as some quality datapoints. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 95 percent of its residents, which is a very solid total. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility did not receive a favorable inspection score. We gave it a grade of just just D in this category. Inspection ratings relate to a facility's government inspections. Inspection scores account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. This particular nursing home had 3 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they caused a threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
