Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of performing well overall, this nursing home received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with a grade of A+. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's quality category scores came in the area of long-term care. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that category, with a score of B+. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was given a favorable short-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average score of B in this area. Our short-term care grades are crucial for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to our fourth category, this facility was given an acceptable nursing grade. Although this isn't nearly as good as a few of its other grades, this is still not a terrible score. Our nursing rating weighs several subcategories, most of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
