Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an excellent short-term care score, with a grade of A. In determining our short-term care grades, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Unfortunately, it does not look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Nursing scores are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final area, this facility also received a very strong long-term care grade, with a grade of B+. This rounded out an elite report card. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 83.888885 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be somewhat less than we anticipated but still a decent figure. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
