Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to performing well overall, this nursing home also earned a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that area with a grade of A+. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Nursing scores are mostly tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the next area, this nursing home also received a score of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this category. In computing our short-term care ratings, we size up the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This grade is often a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we graded is long-term care, where this nursing home received a B-. Even though this proved to be its poorest category grade, this is nevertheless not the end of the world. Our long-term care ratings are more important for folks in need of more traditional services associated with personal care. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to discover that this facility vaccinates 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
