Long-term Care Quality
On top of performing well in its overall score, this facility earned even higher grades in the area of long-term care. In fact, it received one of our best grades in that category with an impressive grade of A+. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. One of the factors we considered after this facility's above average nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the elderly. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 2.1 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was better than most nursing homes due to it having more complex patients.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also excelled in inspections. In fact, we gave it an A for that category, which is one of our best scores. This is one of the few facilities with an overall grade in this range which received multiple category grades this high. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. Nursing scores are mostly associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an impressive 4.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is among the higher totals in Arkansas. Finally, this nursing home fared well in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place beat the national average.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we rated is short-term care, which turned out to be this facility's weakest area. We gave it a lowly F in this category, which is certainly somewhat disappointing. Our short-term care ratings are arguably most critical for those requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 43.9 percent of its residents returning home.
