Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared this well in this category. Our inspection grades are tied to several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also was awarded an A+ short-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to be given more than one A+ category grades. Our short-term care grades are likely more meaningful for patients requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 6.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Nursing scores are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for our long-term care score. This topped off an elite report card. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 70.297035 percent of its patients. This is slightly less than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
