Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 98.55769 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Finally, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. Short-term Care Quality
This facility was given a strong short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that area with a score of B. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. We were extremely impressed to find that this facility offers its residents substantially more physical therapist hours than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in this area with 57.8 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
The next area we graded is nursing. In this category, we gave this facility a solid grade of C. This actually proved to be this facility's weakest area. In determining our nursing grades, we weigh both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This facility provided just 3.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. Although this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this area. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving residents even once per day.
