Facility Inspections
Although we gave this place a terrible overall score, we awarded it a B for our inspections category. This is the result of the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. Inspection ratings are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Remarkably, we gave this facility a C for its long-term care grade, which isn't too bad of a score. For prospective residents looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 90.25974 percent of its patients. This is many points lower than the national average. Nevertheless, this nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our nursing score is primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed is short-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is a poor grade. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. With its poor rating in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this place provided far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
