In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also performed well in our long-term care category, where it earned an impressive grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this area. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 88.39286 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are tied to several items located in the a nursing home's government inspections. Places that score well in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. In computing a facility's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses spend with patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Idaho in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving patients even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Switching gears to our final area, this facility also excelled in the short-term care category. We awarded it a grade of B+ in that area. This finalized a very impressive profile. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
