Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this facility an elite grade of A+ for its short-term care grade. In crafting our short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also earned an A+ inspection grade, making it one of the few facilities to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This score is based on the place's government inspections. Our inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that category. In calculating a facility's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses are seeing patients as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In our last category, we gave this facility a grade of A+ for our long-term care score. This rounded out a first-rate report card. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 79.04762 percent of its patients, which is somewhat less than we expected. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
