Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in our long-term care category, where it earned an A. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.86364 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a deadly illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This facility has earned near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an A- in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on our third area, this nursing home received a strong short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in this category. In determining our short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to create a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final area, we gave this facility a A- for its nursing score. This rounded out a very impressive profile. Nursing scores are largely tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
