Facility Inspections
While we were fairly low on this facility overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that had too many deficiencies. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this nursing home a middle of the road grade in the area of short-term care, with a grade of C. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides a greater volume of physical therapist hours to its residents than the average nursing home. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. This place performed better than most nursing homes in this metric with 54.7 percent of its patients returning home.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home's next best category was long-term care. Nevertheless, with a D in this area, it still fared relatively poorly. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 94.88636 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, this place's hospitalization rate was not nearly as favorable. We found that this facility had 2.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an alarming rate.
Nurse Quality
The final category we assessed was nursing, in which this facility received a poor score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. The nursing grade includes quite a few components, however, the primary one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This place provided just 2.8 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is not a very impressive figure. Unfortunately, this place also had terrible marks in several of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hour totals. For starters, we looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers. This nursing home was at more than double the national average in this statistic.
