Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. The nursing rating is based on quite a few datapoints, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an A+ for its long-term care grade. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are well cared for. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 92.14286 percent of its patients. This is slightly lower than we were hoping for but still a decent figure. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections
We awarded this facility an A for inspections. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth category, this facility received a decent short-term care score. Even though this isn't as good as some of its other category grades, this is really not a poor grade. With our short-term care grade, we strive to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
