In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home also excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. When computing a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the number of hours nurses are with patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This particular facility provided 4.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which was among the better totals we found. Lastly, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. For example, it fared as well as any nursing home the country in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We look at these areas as predictive measures of the caliber of nursing care provided.

This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility also excelled in the category of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Few facilities received a better grade in this category. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. This facility's vaccination statistics weren't as favorable some of the other statistics in this area, such as its number of nursing hours per resident. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 84.92462 percent of its residents. We'd like to see some improvement in this area in the future. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.7 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In the final area, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent short-term care grade, with an A-. This topped off a very impressive profile. In our short-term care rating, we try to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. This nursing home performed much better in the final datapoint we looked at in this area, which was the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. This place fared as well as just about any nursing home in Arizona in this area with 63.6 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, at most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
