We also found that this nursing home excelled in our long-term care rating. We awarded them an A+ in this area. Nursing homes that do well in this category tend to provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered after this facility's impressive nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 97.1564 percent of its patients. Vaccines are a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for seniors. Lastly, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. With 1.73 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home is close to average in this area.
Facility Inspections
Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. Inspection scores are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspections. Facilities that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Our nursing grade focuses on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This facility offers an extremely impressive 5.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is among the higher totals in Oklahoma. Lastly, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its patients sustaining falls which lead to serious injury, this facility performed better than the national average.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is short-term care. We gave this facility a decent grade in that category, with a grade of C. Even though this was not as favorable as many of this facility's other grades, it is still not a bad grade. In our short-term care category, we try to forge a fair measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 14.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.
