Facility Inspections
To go along with its relatively modest overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for our inspections rating. This is far more impressive than its overall grade. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was given strong long-term care marks this year. We awarded them one of our more impressive scores in that area, with a grade of B. This turned out to be the nursing home's second best score. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are well cared for. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 92.94404 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is somewhat below what we expected but still a decent percentage. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing rating. In fact, we awarded it a F in this area. The nursing score includes a handful of components, however, the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, this facility really did not perform well. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is its weakest grade. Short-term care scores are important for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Given its poor rating in this category, we were not stunned to learn this facility provides far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.2 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
