Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its excellent government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category typically have few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we had a generally favorable view of this nursing home's inspections.
Long-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a respectable grade in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. In computing our long-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's personal care services. Once we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 91.52047 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. Our nursing category assesses several datapoints, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our final area, we gave this facility a grade of D in our short-term care category. This was the facility's worst category score. In determining our short-term care grades, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This category is typically a reliable assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Given its grade in this area, we were not stunned to find that this facility was well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
