Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid places that had too many deficiencies. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility's next best category was long-term care. Nevertheless, with a D in this category, it still fared relatively badly. For residents seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 97.79412 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. When determining our nursing grades, we assess both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, this place's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we graded is short-term care, in which this facility was given a bottom of the barrel score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this area, which is definitely very concerning. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. With a grade this poor for this area, we were not surprised to learn this nursing home was below average in several staffing metrics we focus on. The nursing home offered substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
