Long-term Care Quality
This facility truly excelled in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a score of A-. Very few facilities performed better in this area. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 89.38053 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is a bit less than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our more positive scores in our short-term care category as well, with a B+. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services To have highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
Nurse Quality

Nevertheless, you should not focus exclusively a single poor grade. Our nursing grade weighs several factors. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
