Facility Inspections
To go along with a strong overall grade, we awarded this facility an A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. We weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility performed well in the category of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a score of A for that category, which turns out to be one of our best scores. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 98.4127 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. In determining our nursing ratings, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the number of hours of care offered.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed was short-term care, in which this facility was given a C. This was this nursing home's worst category. This is nevertheless not the end of the world. Our short-term care grades are believed to be most important for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The final measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. This figure was below the national average.
