Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place is a strong nursing home is that it earned a very impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections turned out to be its best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B+. Nursing scores are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Florida in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning a patient even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received a favorable long-term care score. Indeed, we gave it an above average score of B in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 97.97298 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is far higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.07 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our final area, this facility was given a C in short-term care, which is a decent grade. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we were not able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 3.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
