To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 93.396225 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is a few points less than we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. The last datapoint we looked at was its hospitalization rate. Here we found that this facility had 2.17 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.

This nursing home also received a virtually flawless inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our highest scores in that category with a score of A+. This was one of the few facilities to receive multiple A+'s. Inspection scores weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our better grades in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. This nursing home performed much better in the final datapoint we considered in this category, which was the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. This place performed as well as just about any nursing home in Oklahoma with 60.2 percent of its residents returning home. For most nursing homes, fewer than half of the short-stay patients ever return home.

The next area we rated is nursing. We gave this facility one of our higher grades in that area, with a grade of B. Even though this is not as high as several of this nursing home's other grades, it is nevertheless a positive grade. When computing a facility's nursing rating, we assess the quantity of hours nurses commit to residents and the skill levels of those nurses. With 4.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this nursing home surpassed the overwhelming majority of facilities. Finally, we also looked at nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these statistics as good measures of the caliber of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
