Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also performed well in long-term care, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility has also received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also want to point out the fact that this facility received a superb grade of A in our short-term care area. In our short-term care grade, we strive to forge a meaningful measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category we looked at, this facility was given an impressive grade grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this grade, the nursing home completed a very favorable report card. Nursing scores are tied to nurse staffing levels. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
