Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ inspection rating. This is based on its recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the best complements we can offer a nursing home. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also awarded this facility a score of A for our long-term care grade. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a respectable grade in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In determining our short-term care grades, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is often a meaningful measure of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. It doesn't look like this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we assessed is nursing, in which this facility received a grade of B-. This actually is this facility's weakest area. This is still a middle of the pack score. Nursing scores are largely tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, while this nursing home did not rank well in terms of nursing hours per resident, it fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than average.
