Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home earned an inspection grade which is better than its overall grade. Inspection scores are associated with the nursing home's recent inspections. We awarded this nursing home a very solid grade of B+ in this area. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category typically have few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few relatively minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, we gave this nursing home a B in our long-term care category. This is one of our higher scores. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia can be a deadly ailment for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Another reason we rated this facility so highly is that it earned an A+ nursing grade. Nursing ratings are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the last category, this facility was awarded a grade of C in short-term care, which is an acceptable grade. Short-term care grades are generally used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services. To have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
