Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While this facility's overall grade was not bad, it really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we gave this nursing home a B in our long-term care category. This is one of our better scores. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 72.92818 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. There are a variety of subcategories included in this grade. Most of these datapoints relate to nurse staffing. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality measures. Although this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of these quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this metric. This is often an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a policy of turning patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's weakest category was short-term care, which is the last area we scored. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of just D. In our short-term care score, we strive to forge a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
