Facility Inspections
On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an impressive long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this category. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 97.78086 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The third best area we gave this nursing home in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. Our short-term care grades are presumably more meaningful for residents requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our next category, we gave this facility a D for the area of nursing. This was the facility's worst category rating. Sadly, this score hurt the facility's overall grade a bit. The nursing grade is based on numerous subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is well below average. Although this nursing home did not excel in nursing hours, it surprised us in a few of the quality-based metrics in the nursing category, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed better than average in this statistic, which is one redeeming quality we found in this area.
