Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility's long-term care grade is much more impressive than its overall score. Due to a strong performance in this area, it earned one of our higher grades in that category with a B. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is a good sign for patient care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 95.78544 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

It should also be noted that this facility's inspection score was strong as well. We gave it a B for inspections, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area tend to have few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

We also awarded this facility a favorable grade in nursing. This facility earned a grade of B in this category, which is one of our better grades. The nursing rating assesses many datapoints, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Switching gears to our final area, this facility received a B- for short-term care, which we consider to be a respectable score. In our short-term care score, we seek to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
