Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this facility's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid places with too many severe deficiencies flagged. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without complete information regarding deficiencies, it ended up being difficult to assess this nursing home in the area of inspections.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a solid grade in the category of long-term care, with a B-. In calculating these long-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's personal care services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 99.631 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Another concern was the F this facility was given in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care scores are thought to be most critical for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the data we looked at. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the final area, this facility really didn't fare very well in this area either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is really as bad as it gets. Our nursing score is based on numerous factors. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This place fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
