Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While we were not very complementary of this facility's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid places with too many severe deficiencies flagged. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without complete information regarding deficiencies, it ended up being difficult to assess this nursing home in the area of inspections.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this facility a solid grade in the category of long-term care, with a B-. In calculating these long-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's personal care services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the category of short-term care, this facility was awarded just a D in that category. Our short-term care grades are likely most critical for patients in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Based on its score in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this place is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The final area we graded was nursing. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel score. Our nursing grade is mostly tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
