Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its dominant profile, this facility also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, it received a grade of A for that category. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.44752 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. When determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we assess the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the final category we assessed, this facility was awarded a very favorable grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this score, the nursing home rounded out a straight A profile. With our short-term care assessment, we try to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
