Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this place an A+ for inspections. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. It does not appear that we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more information about this nursing home. Without information regarding deficiencies, it is challenging to assess it in the inspections category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Our nursing grade includes numerous datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a patient more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to our next category, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this area. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is typically a reliable measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final area we looked at was long-term care. In this category, we awarded this facility a strong grade of B. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 93.93939 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
