Facility Inspections
On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. We weren't able to locate deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without all of the deficiency related data for this nursing home, it was challenging to really evaluate it in the area of inspections.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an B. There are many datapoints within this area. Many of the criteria relate to staffing levels. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, this facility also was given favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we gave it one of our better scores in that category, with a grade of B. In crafting our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at was long-term care, which was this nursing home's worst area. We awarded this facility a D in that area. Sadly, this category pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to some degree. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 90.90909 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be slightly below what we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
