Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Short-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for its short-term care rating, which isn't a bad grade. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. We were surprised to find that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. When determining a facility's nursing score, we look at the number of hours nurses are seeing residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This facility averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the final area, this nursing home really did not perform very well in this category either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. Unfortunately, this facility vaccinated only 83.40807 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
