Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.760765 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we gave this facility an A for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. There are a host of factors included in this area. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Florida in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving a resident at least once a day.

The next category we assessed is short-term care. This nursing home was awarded an above average nursing grade in our assessment, with a grade of B. Even though this is not nearly as elite as some of its other category grades, this remains one of the more favorable grades in that category. Our short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 4.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
