Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We gave this nursing home an A- in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care grade is often employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's second best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. Nursing ratings are mostly associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's third most favorable area was long-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 92.74809 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is somewhat lower than we expected but still a decent figure. Nevertheless, this place keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

Finally, turning to our inspection category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. Our inspection grade is based on the facility's government inspections. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. This place had 11 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were category J through L deficiencies. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to place patient health or safety in imminent harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
