Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating analyzes the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning a patient even once per day.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive category scores, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Contributing to its first-rate profile, this nursing home also was given a strong long-term care grade, with a grade of A. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category, we awarded this facility a grade of A for our short-term care score. This rounded out a very strong profile. In our short-term care category, we attempt to craft a fair measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
