Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home fared well in short-term care. We awarded it an impressive grade of A+ for that category. In the area of short-term care, we strive to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our nursing grade. Nursing scores are primarily tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this nursing home is that it excelled in the area of inspections, with a grade of B in that category. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we looked at is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this area, which is a poor grade. You shouldn't simply rule out a nursing home due to one poor grade though. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.42857 percent of its residents, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
