Short-term Care Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly unfavorably overall, it earned an impressive short-term care grade this year. We gave it a B+ in this category. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most important for individuals requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. It doesn't appear that this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last metric we looked at in this area is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 6.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. The nursing grade includes several datapoints. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility only received a grade of D for its long-term care score, which is not one of our better scores. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 98.02631 percent of its patients, which is higher than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Moving on the final category of inspections, this nursing home really did not fare well. It received an F in our inspection category. This is the most heavily weighted category in our overall grading system. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This particular facility had 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was assessed significant government fines in recent years totaling more than $100,000. This usually means that a facility's bad performance has been an issue for multiple years.
