Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its impeccable inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better scores in that category, with an A+. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall grade, which was decent but certainly not elite. Our inspection grades are tied to several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we still had positive view of this facility's inspections.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility received its next highest category grade in the category of short-term care. We gave this facility a B- in this category, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Short-term care grades are vital for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. The nursing score includes a handful of datapoints, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat discouraging figure which is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to our last category, we gave this nursing home a D in our long-term care category. This was the nursing home's least impressive category grade. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 95.454544 percent of its patients, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
