Short-term Care Quality
We wanted to point out that this nursing home' short-term care grade outpaced its overall score. In fact, we gave it a B for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be more meaningful for people needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
This facility's inspection grade also was better than its overall grade. Due to a quality inspection report this year, it earned one of our better grades in that area with a B. Inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's government inspections. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next best category is its long-term care score, where it was given a B-. Our long-term care scores are crucial for patients requiring non-healthcare services such as personal care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility provided the vaccine to a relatively low 60.144924 percent of its residents. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area was nursing, which is the last category we analyzed. For this area, we gave this nursing home a D. The nursing score consists of quite a few subcategories, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is not a very impressive figure. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
