Facility Inspections
Although this facility's overall score was terrible, it performed pretty well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that category, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite insignificant. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Nursing ratings are primarily based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not one of our better scores. In determining our short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final category, this facility really didn't fare very well here either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. For patients in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 99.35275 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
