Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Our inspection grades are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
We also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received a strong long-term care score. Indeed, it received one of our most impressive scores in that category with a grade of A-. Facilities that do well in this category typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.31271 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a deadly condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Next we looked at nursing grades, where this nursing home received an F, which is a rock bottom grade. This area was definitely not a strength for this facility. In computing a facility's nursing grade, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This facility averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these datapoints to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last area, this facility didn't fare very well. With a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is its poorest category. Short-term care grades are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. In this facility's case, it looks like it offers fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.7 percent of its patients returning home.
