Facility Inspections
The primary reason this ended up being a decent nursing home is that it earned an elite inspection score. In fact, its inspection grade was far superior to its overall score. In our inspections category, we gave it a grade of A-. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this nursing home a strong score in short-term care. This facility received a B in this area, which happens to be one of our more favorable scores. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is generally a meaningful assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
