One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this area. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area typically have few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A few minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

Another reason we rated this facility so favorably is that it received an A+ short-term care grade. This is simply as dominant as it gets in this category. Our short-term care grade is often used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 7.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Nursing grades are mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning patients more often.

The last category we assessed was long-term care, where this facility was given a B+. This rounded out a very impressive profile. Very few facilities earned a B+ or higher in all four categories. Facilities that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
