Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This facility really excelled in our short-term care rating, with an A- in this area. This really propped up its overall score. In crafting our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Facility Inspections
This facility also excelled in inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Nurse Quality
One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. When determining our nursing ratings, we look at both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed was long-term care. It received a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal grade. This is clearly a significant disappointment. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.62825 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
